I can't remember another time that I was this impressed with a company and their product. We were prepared to buy a brand new washing machine but, thanks to the high-quality gear kit, and the incredibly helpful installation video, our washer is better now than it was the day we bought it. I'd forgotten what it's like to have a go-to company for specialized/niche things -- one you don't just rely on, but actively root for, and recommend to others. You've made a loyal customer of me.

Gear Case Shim Kit

A shim from the kit only compensates for wear in just the top 0.25" of the bushing. Wear in the lower part of the bushing will still allow the drum to "wobble". The cost difference between the shim kit and the replacement "red" bushing is negligible. Perform a quality repair and save yourself from having to disassemble it again.

I followed the videos and installed the parts but, this week the problem came back even worse than before.

Unfortunately your video skipped some needed steps to get the washing machine apart so we were unable to take ours apart enough to get the new gear case in so we were unable to use it.

I finally got the kit later than expected (no thanks to USPS who left it in a warehouse) after Ben’s sent a new order UPS (thank you!). The springs were great and went in easy. The sleeve went in nicely, but the new metal hub didn’t fit down all the way onto the tub mounting base, but I did tighten it down enough, I hope. Thanks for getting the reorder to me. I’m back up and washing.

I am an amateur repairman…I Youtube repairs and if it looks viable, I give it a shot. This job took a little more patience than most, but at the last second, after three days of attempting to remove the oscillator, I finally got it removed to find that if I had not ordered the shims, all the work and money I put into new parts would have been in vain. The shims steadied and centered the basket. It runs perfectly.

I think it could have possibly worked. It did good for a week. Whirlpool washing machines just suck. I installed it and it worked fine for a week but something else happened to the whirlpool junk.

Good design. Easy to install. Should last for the life of the washer.

This did not work on my Maytag MVWB850WL0. The basket bushing is worn but the shims are too thick to fit. The factory bushing is not serviceable and the basket is no longer available. I have junked the machine.

Metal replacement gear worked as advertised. Recommended wrench worked too. Recommended shim kit was not needed, now located in box of unused parts. $12.00 wasted on the shim kit.

Removing the old part was a little challenging. Installing the new one was easy. Great price and delivery.

So glad Ben’s Appliance invented this! Worked excellent! Easy to install! No more wobbly tub!! I texted because the item said sold out and they responded very fast. States that they would get the guy to make some more!! A few hours later received text saying they had some restocked!! I ordered 2 right then!! Cannot be that kind of service!! Thank you so much!

Well I didn't really get to see how well or not because the tube was so beat up around the transmission shaft that it wouldn't have made a difference, I got rid of that Maytag and bought a nice LG!

Gear Case Shim Kit for Whirlpool, Maytag, and Other Gearcases BA-27194372

Put new kit in place and new compression rods and help some, but still out of balance. Not as bad, but not fixed.

My first order arrived with no problem, when I ordered the second items it never arrived.

I replaced the coupling to a metal coupling and replaced the bushing to the new design bushing. Also, I updated the suspension rods with new dampers and dampner grease. When I calibrated the washer the machine still rocked out of control. I notice the basket was not centered after checking with a level. I then raised the right side of the washer with a 2 x 6 and ran a load of laundry. Not sure why but the washer does not rock after raising one side and centering the basket. Not sure how long this will work but its working.

Fit was good

I upgraded from the nylon to the metal hub. So far so good. The shims were worked well. A really good upgrade to the original parts. Thanks Ben!

The shim kit is not needed if you are replacing red bearing. I bought it per the advice on Ben's parts website; however, I will be returning it.
