Ben's Appliance and Junk is the go to for appliance repair information. Wish I saw his website 5 yrs ago and wouldn't have purchased the current washing machine.....none the less his videos were easy to follow, purchased the necessary parts I needed and hope I ge at least 3 more years out of my Maytag Maybe washer might work unit.......I purchased some parts from his on online store to support the work he does but through no fault of his own, delivery was slow through DHL. His appliance reviews are spot on and people should be confident in relying on them the information he give about appliances.....I remember seeing refrigerators with built in tablets or see through doors and I already knew too many gadgets cause problems.....In 2022 I bought a bottom freezer fridge with an ice maker and regret it. I had a 2009 Whirlpool top freezer which was working fine but food would go bad on the bottom shelves I couldn't see it as I am 6'5" and had spinal fusion. The new freezer has less space and if I want to clean the bottom of the freezer I need to remove the door. Within in 6months the blend door in the fridge was making noise and got replaced under warranty. My 2009 Whirlpool Fridge used the same parts as my mom's old 2003 Kenmore fridge that I inherited which was bought in 2003 and is still working after 23 yrs.....simple is better for sure and that is what Ben advocates. I love his videos!

The plastic hub was wallowed out. I can't believe they used such a bad design. Getting the agitator plate off was a challenge, again poor design. Only critique is, a little more instruction about the shim selection would be helpful.
I also rebuilt the suspension rods as well since I had it open. Messy but might as well.

Getting the wash plate off on my washer was a nightmare but the parts sent by Ben’s appliances went on easily and my washer is working better than ever!

Finally got around to installing the part after wedding and honeymoon. Lasted about a week before all the splines went smooth.

I own a WTW500DW3 since May of 2021. While not unreliable it developed a bad shake diring spin cycle so loud i could hear it 50 feet away from my detached laundry room. In fact the washer would move itself 8 or 9 inches and bang into the twin WED1485 unit and move it. The hub, in conjunction with 4 new OEM rods loaded with blue grease and the red bearing has fixed the issue. Ive done several big loads and the washer hasnt moved an inch. Bens video will guide you and its worth saving your 5-700 dollar unit. Thanks Ben. ALSO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND JUST BUYING A NEW WASHPLATE AND ANTICIPATING DESTROYING YOIR OLD ONE...i purchased mine new OEM from eBay and instead of fooling with it i just destroyed and replaced it.

Our washer did the jig. When I went to utoob university I found Ben. He explains everything great. In addition to getting the metal hub I also got the red plastic bushing beneath it and the special blue grease. With all these items my dancing washer works great. I had to use a modified steering wheel puller, then drive deck screws into the agitator plate to pull that off, then filled the holes with bondo and sand smooth. The tips on extracting codes and setting the balance were very useful. Thanks Ben Do you work on Mazda's?

Replaced plastic hub on our 31/2 yr old machine and new one failed in a few months. Installed metal clamp on version next and it also failed within a few months (see pic). Ordered a 4 pack of the plastic hubs online and installed one which has been fine so far at 2 months. The problem is the rusting splines on the drive shaft wears away the splines in the hub, plastic or metal. Our machine runs like new except for this issue so will just keep replacing the plastic hubs when needed. It's a pretty easy repair after doing it a couple times. I always clean up and apply a light coating of wd40 to the metal splines to help slow further deterioration. Hope this helps my long suffering diy brothers with this issue. It's the best I can do.

In another attempt. I tucked in cable around and under wash plate. Laid a 2x4 across washer. Hooked cable onto ratchet strap and around 2x4. It lifted inner and outer tub to top of inside of washer. Kept clicking ratchet. Now wash plate started to bend upward. Kept clicking and clicking. Then finally. Wash plate broke in half. Cut away the rest of wash plate. Still not done. Metal splined center piece of wash plate still stuck on. This MF. Was rusted on so badly. Would not come loose. So. Had to modify one of my pullers to grab onto it. Once it attached. Use an automotive puller to pull it off.
Fk me. What an ordeal.

New orange bushing. New hub. New rods n springs. Runs great now. Those 5 days of hell. Ugh

When my Maytag washer started to wobble and shake, I replaced the suspension rods with OEM parts. When that had no impact, I ordered the metal hub and about 90% of the shaking stopped. I believe that the metal sleeve had the greatest impact as there was a noticeable gap between the spindle and the inner tub, which almost disappeared. However, I think that the sleeve might have not been thick enough. I didn't realize that there is a separate product that contains three sleeves with different thicknesses. I should have ordered that one. It would be nice to have the different thicknesses included as options in the metal hub package, even for a slightly higher price. I live in Canada, so shipping for another item wasn't worthwhile. Unfortunately, my hub spindle was very rusted and I think that something else must have broken after a few washes as the problem came back worse than before within a week. We ended up buying a new washer.

The part was easy to install. It did fix the problem for about a week. Unfortunately the spine part of the new metal hub cracked and split into two pieces and the problem returned. Trying to decide now if I installed it wrong and over tightened it or if the part was defective . Not sure if I should repurchase to try it again or, should I do the bigger repair replace the gear case and reinstall the OEM plastic hub adapter.

How they use plastic hubs is beyond me. Metal hub fixed washer that was shaking and unbalanced. Highly recommend. Hopefully extends my washer life.

We installed the metal washing machine hub as directed by your YouTube video using the metal hub wrench and blue lock - all seemed well for about 1 week; then we started to notice a lot of clicking which progressed to grinding. In the end - we took it all apart and found the metal hub (first part installed) had broken into 3 pieces. We had to remove the 6 mounting screws to remove the metal hub. At any rate, we replaced the metal hub with the regular plastic hub and washer is working fine. The metal hub sounded like a good alternative to the plastic hub, which sands smooth over time; but maybe this experience explains why Whirpool/Maytag no longer sells the metal hub?

Went with the “UPGRADE” model as recommended but encountered a problem with it sitting on the tube base, reached out via comment on YouTube with a 25% comment return that I’d encounter my problem. The solution didn’t work and can’t get any further comment back. Spent the $$ per your website but no other support. The QR code on the instructions didn’t even work. So far, not impressed and this is disappointing to say the least. Hope this gets me some better results.

Parts fit perfectly, and the instructions were easy to follow. Washing Machine is now working properly again. The most challenging thing was the removal of the agitator, but using a shoe string and WD40 did the trick.

After watching Ben on YouTube I had no difficulty at all replacing the hub gear on whirlpool WTW5000dt2 I had trouble I forgot to recalibrate I tried by manual nothing ,watched Ben boom I was in so easy I ran tests washer got better I ran the tests twice then a third time after a small wash it is smooth as silk, this whirlpool is about 4yrs old it’s running better than when I purchased according to my wife she’s extremely Happy Ty Ben Save your $ Watch Ben on YouTube and he has parts low prices are fantastic!
