Will this kit work in my Samsung French door refrigerator?

It is made for Samsung French door refrigerators except certain Flex Door models. The RF23J9011 is the known incompatible model; contact us with your model number if unsure.

Should I buy the 18 inch or the 24 inch heater?

Both do the same job - the only difference is the length of the heat tube. The 18 inch is recommended for most Samsung models because it's easier to work with during installation.

What's the difference between the Heater Only, Heater Kit and Moisture Kit versions?

Heater Only is the heater alone - pick it if the moisture kit is installed. The Heater Kit adds Posi-Taps, cable ties and grease; the Moisture Kit also adds a drain probe, drain tube kit and tapes.

What other parts should I replace along with this kit?

Usually the defrost sensor (DA32-10104N on many models) and the evaporator cover if it's waterlogged or damaged. The control board usually isn't needed. Send us your model to confirm.

What problems is this kit meant to fix?

Poor cooling from ice build-up, water in the drawers, noise from ice hitting the evaporator fan, and ice build-up inside the refrigerator cabinet.

Does this kit replace a broken evaporator fan or defrost heater?

No - it doesn't replace any part in your refrigerator. A failed defrost heater or broken fan still needs replacing; this heater is an add-on to help stop recurring frost.

Can I use this kit where the power is 240v?

Yes - orders to 240v countries get the 120v heater swapped for an 18 inch 240v heater, the only 240v length. Never run the 120v heater on 240v. Need the 120v kit there? Contact us first.

Anything I should know about wiring the heater in?

Use the 14-16 AWG Posi-Taps included with the kit - 16-18 AWG taps are too small for the wires. Plug the blue and white evaporator fan connectors back in, or the fan won't run.

Can I cut the heater to length?

The power cord can be cut to size, but the heat probe cannot be cut. The probe is very flexible and bends easily to fit.

Orders shipping to countries that use 240v electricity automatically get the 120v heater swapped for a 240v heater. Never run the 120v heater on 240v power - it can melt or start a fire. If you are in a 240v country but need the 120v kit, please contact us before ordering.

 

This kit is designed to potentially fix the following problems on a Samsung French Door Refrigerator (although it could work on other styles as well):

  • Refrigerator Cabinet Not Cooling Properly (due to ice build-up)
  • Refrigerator Cabinet with Water in Drawers
  • Refrigerator Making Noise due to Ice on Evaporator Fan
  • Refrigerator Ice Build-Up inside Refrigerator Cabinet

Please note this does not replace any part in your refrigerator: If you have a broken fan, or bad defrost heater rod, this will not fix those parts, and they will need replaced. If you have tried all the other "Solutions" to resolve any of the 4-mentioned issues and its still persisting, then a secondary heater kit is likely the solution.

  1. Silicone Defrost Heater - 120V, 20 Watts, 24in Heater Length, 40in Power Cord Length. Power cord can be cut down to size needed, heat probe is bendable/foldable and is extremely flexible to custom fit to a needed solution.
  2. 14-16 AWG Posi-Tap Connectors 
  3. 10 High Temperature, 6" Cable Ties
  4. 11 mil vial of Dielectric Grease  to waterproof new electrical lines + wooden applicator

Compatability: This kit will work with all "French Door" Samsung refrigerators EXCEPT certain Flex Door models. The only known model that is incompatible is the RF23J9011 unit. If you are unsure if this kit will work with your flex-door Samsung, please contact us with your model# to confirm.
