This is the Hot water inlet valve for certain GE frontload washers. This part is responsible for allowing hot water into the machine. The coil opens and closes based on what the control board tells it, allowing for as much or as little water to flow into the machine for the selected cycle.

Symptoms you may run into that could indicate the valve needs replaced can be, water drips into the tub when machine is off, the washer randomly kicks on the pump while the washer is off, washer won't fill or fills slowly.
