Fitment & FAQ

Should I replace the clutch spring and clutch pulley at the same time?

Yes - the clutch, clutch pulley and clutch spring (WH01X24434CM) work as a system, so replacing them together is a solid approach.

There's some play between my clutch and clutch pulley. Is that normal?

Yes - a small amount of play can be normal. If you're also hearing noise or seeing inconsistent movement, the clutch and its related parts are worth replacing.

I found oil under the guard cover. Is the clutch supposed to be lubricated?

No - the clutch is not supposed to be lubricated. Oil there usually means the gearcase above is leaking, which can contaminate the clutch and may mean the gearcase is failing.

Should I replace the shift actuator while I'm in there?

Yes - the shift actuator works with the clutch, pulley and spring as a system, so replacing them all together is a solid approach.

How do I check if it fits my washer?

Type your full model number into the fit checker on this page or find it in the compatible model list. Not listed? Contact us with your model number.

This is the plastic washing machine clutch for many modern top-load GE washing machines.

If your GE washing machine is making a whirring-style noise that is very loud, possibly causing the machine not to spin, this is a very likely culprit.

We suggest changing the spring at the same time as this clutch in case the spring is worn as well, and do not forget to lubricate the new clutch as well with silicone grease. We include this grease as part of the kit, free of charge.
