I replaced the lock but still get a door lock error. What else can cause it?

A door lock error can also come from a wiring fault or a control board that isn't sending the lock signal. Inspect the harness and connector, then check the control board.

My new door lock burned out as soon as I turned the power on. Why?

A lock burns out almost instantly if it gets constant 120V. Check for a shorted harness, pinched or melted wires, or a failed control board before installing another lock.

How do I open the door if it's locked and the washer won't power on?

Unplug the washer and remove the top panel. Reach down inside the front by the door striker, about a foot down - the lock has a release button you can press.

Can a bad door lock damage the control board?

Yes - a faulty door lock can cause repeated control board failures, so check the lock whenever you replace the board.

Is this an OEM GE door lock?
