Which size do I need - the 8.5" or the 5.5" heater pad?

The 8.5" pad is for full-depth Samsung refrigerators. The 5.5" pad is for counter-depth models with the shorter icemaker, such as DA97-18859A. Unsure? Contact us with your model number.

Do I also need the Samsung Ice Maker & Moisture Heater Kit?

Yes - it is recommended for recurring freeze-ups. Ice jams are usually caused by moisture freezing in the tray or chute, and using both kits together is the most effective fix.

What problem does this heater kit fix?

It targets Samsung icemakers that stop working from ice or frost build-up on the lower plastic cover, by gently warming the bottom of the icemaker housing.

Will this work on a 220-240V refrigerator outside the US?

No - not the standard kit, which is built for 120V refrigerators. For a 220-240V refrigerator, contact us with your full model number before ordering to confirm the right version.

I installed the kit and the icemaker stopped making ice. What should I check?

Press the icemaker's reset/test button and check the ice room for frost or air gaps. If it still won't cycle, the water inlet valve or control board may be the problem.

Do I need to replace the control board when I install this kit?

No - the main control board usually doesn't need replacing unless diagnostics point to it or the fridge has broader problems like cooling issues.

How is the heater powered?

It taps into the icemaker's 120V line that powers the ice harvest heater, and runs while that heater is running.

Will the heater melt my ice?

No - it is designed not to. The gentle 6-watt heat keeps frost away from the icemaker without melting the ice you want to use.

A new way to solve your Samsung Icemaker woes! 

After selling our popular secondary heater for the Samsung refrigerator evaporator coils, we now are introducing a secondary heater for Samsung icemakers that typically are rendered inoperable due to extensive ice/frost build up on the lower plastic cover. 

This kit taps into your icemaker's 120v electrical line which powers a heater to harvest ice in the icemaker. While this is running, the secondary heater runs to gently warm up the bottom of the icemaker to remove any ice or frost buildup from the housing that often forms. 

This heater pad is designed to fit specifically for the counter-depth refrigerators. It has a heat capacity of 6 watts to ensure a gentle heat profile that works to keep frost away, but not the ice you want to use!

The Secondary Heater Fits the Following Ice Makers:

Counter-Depth Heating Pad: DA97-13718C, DA97-13718A,  DA97-18859A, DA97-13718CCM
