Description

If your Samsung Icemaker is no longer operating properly, replacing the icemaker may solve your problems. We now stock both the "Short" (13718C) and "Long" (15217D) ice maker for most Samsung ice makers made from 2013 through 2021.

These icemakers are a common part of the ice maker not working failure, and are also prone to warping or damage when the ice making cabinet is overheated by a hair dryer or other extremely hot warming device that isn't the defroster.

Note that the DA97-15217 unit is longer, and features 10 ice cubes for full-depth Samsung refrigerators, and the DA97-13718C is for the shorter, counter-depth 8-cube model of ice maker. If you have any confusion or questions about what is right for you, send us an E-mail.

The unit worked fine for about 9 months. It stopped working and after a Forced Defrost started working again but only for a few weeks. It stopped once again but responded to a reset. After that, it stopped completely. All of these symptoms were identical to the original Samsung part.

Samsung Refrigerator Icemaker - DA97-15217D

The part was helpful, but the refrigerator that has this system in place is really not good.

Ben’s Appliance was very helpful with the video and quick parts services that arrived before promised. The part is working OK for now, but still some icing due to warped plastic panels around the styrofoam piece attached at the top of the ice maker box.

Broken ice maker? Get this one instead of paying samsung.

Like many people with samsung refrigerators, my ice maker finally died. Samsung would not cover it as it's out of warranty. They said they'd pay for parts but not labor. Labor was going to cost $280!!! Being pretty handy I decided to try to fix it myself. I did a good bit of troubleshooting beforehand and finally found a video on how to check the fridge codes. Mine had an error for the ice maker (shocking!). I purchased the replacement and using Ben's YouTube videos, popped the old one out in about 15 minutes. The replacement arrived faster than expected (~3 days). I put it in without issue and soon heard ice falling into the bucket!! Problem solved for so much less than samsung. They really should replace every faulty ice maker for free regardless of warranty since they have such a bad track record. But, if yours dies, and they won't cover it, buy it from Ben's!
