A Recommended Addition to the Samsung Heater Kit

One of the more pertinent items that technicians will replace when installing the drain kit and secondary heater kit is a new defrost sensor, as replacing it takes approximately 1 minute with the evaporator cover panel off.

If the existing defrost sensor is off-specification, it could reduce the defrost time of the refrigerator, causing some of the icing conditions that the Samsung refrigerator is notorious for.

Always confirm that this piece is compatible with your refrigerator prior to purchase. However, this specific sensor is compatible with almost all Samsung French-door refrigerators and side-by-side units.

Fixed my problem

My refrigerator was freezing veggies in the crisper bin and pooling water under the bins. After installing Ben's kit, everything is working well.

Defrost kit post install

Kit is well thought out and installation was low difficulty. I was unsure where exactly to relocate the temp sensor but moved it onto the coils away from the freezing. That may have been a bad choice. Time will tell. Installed the new drain tubes. Required a bit of cutting but no problem. Overall this looks like a good solution, and the components appear to be good quality, which is a real plus. I’ll know in a month or so.
